When you hear the tree mulcher you know Christmas is well and truly past

Great to see so many Christmas trees brought to the park for shredding. The shredding will produce nice mulch for the town's flowerbeds. The mulch helps to retain moisture in the soil and to suppress weeds.
And once it has been broken down by microbes in the soil it enriches that soil and helps to improve drainage. And according to The Daily Express*: "Many people worry that pine leaves will affect the acid content of their soil, because pine trees grow in acid-based soil. But as the leaves decompose they lose their acidity, so they are not a problem."

You will note from one of the images that the shreddings have taken over at least one of our leaf-composting bays. That should not have happened as there is some very nice leaf mould buried under that lot! We have been assured that it will not happen again.
