Sunshine guaranteed for Picnic in the Park!

Love Redmond Park holds its annual Picnic in the Park on Sun, July 1 (2-5pm). This year the group has decided to celebrate the end of the school year by having the event at the start of Summer rather than the end as has been the case in the past.
As usual there will be a lively mix of fun activities including Red Moon Theatre Puppet Show, the amazing juggling phenomenon that is the Rice Family, street circus act The Fairy & The Fiddler, crafty fun and arts zone for younger children, face-painting, novelty games and tug ‘o war with Slam Entertainment, ball skills with The Volunteers and obstacle races with Menapians AC. BuĂ Bolg’s confused "Explorers" will be there, lost and looking for directions. There will be live music from the submersibles, Rachel Grace, Hayley Crosbie and the traditional musicians of Loch Garman Comhaltas. As always, there is no admission charge.

Exciting programme aside, LRP spokesperson, Senan O'Reilly, says that the single most important element in ensuring a successful Picnic is the presence of so many families enjoying themselves. "Any opportunity for a community to come together is to be welcomed," he said. "While the park was set up in 1931 to honour the memory of Major Willie Redmond its formal title is the Memorial Children's Park. We are delighted that Redmond Park still plays such a large part in the entertainment of Wexford children, and that it is as much a vital and appreciated part of the community now as it was back then."

Mr O'Reilly acknowledged the support of Wexford County Council and, in particular, District Manager Angie Laffan. With regard to the mooted development of the park he said that the Council will presently be announcing details of works to be undertaken along with timelines.
